Paths are pretty important on an allotment, especially if you garden year round. The prettiest plots usually have grass paths, but these need a lot of work and draw a lot of water out of the ground in summer. Paving slabs are the least effort, once you’ve laid them, but they can also be expensive and they don’t provide any value to the environment.
