I'm trying something new with my diary. Rather than just publish it on this website, I'm also going to record a new weekly video, called "The gardening week'. This diary, will be the show notes for the video.

I'm no longer publishing the audio from the video as a podcast, as it’s too expensive and not worth the effort when it seems that YouTube will soon be providing a podcasting experience.

Monday

On Monday I chilled out at Caffe Nero and then cycled 15 miles up the coast to Fleetwood and back to Cleveleys for breakfast. Although I have an electric bike now I’m still struggling to keep my heart rate in the 112 - 130 zone, which is my target.

Hopefully as I get fitter my hear rate will drop a bit, or I will learn to cycle slower!

Fabulous breakfast at Mariner’s cafe in Cleveleys , only £2.75!

On the gardening front I moved two containers of spent potato compost into the conservatory to warm up, ready to plant with potatoes tomorrow. The compost is very damp (having been outside) so I will be topping it with 4” of fresh - dry - compost, to prevent fungus gnats.

Tuesday

Planting day on the allotment, but first I got the shed painted and a drip strip installed above the door.

The new door is almost done, just a bit of filler needed now

Wednesday

Hiking, after a slow start at Caffe Nero! Drove up to Rivington for a walk and talking day

No gardening got done on Wednesday, I was out hiking, but I did pop into B&Q for gardening supplies on the way home and I dropped them off at the plot.

We’ve high winds expected over the next few nights, so Debbie and I prepared for that, I closed up all of my tunnels and frames, Debbie tied in the broad beans!
